Our Mission
Our Story
The Hayes Joseph Pien Organization was born out of a legacy of immense love and courage. Inspired by our "heavenly son," Hayes Joseph Pien (or "Hazy Boy"), our mission is simple: to ensure that no family walks alone when facing the challenges of congenital heart defects and critical childhood illnesses.
In his five and a half weeks with us, Hayes touched countless lives and sparked a movement of compassion and faith. While he fought heroically through open-heart surgeries, our family experienced firsthand the vital importance of a support system. Today, we honor Hayes by providing that same support to other families and the incredible heroes who care for them every day.
Why We Play
The Hazy Boy Open is more than just a day on the course—it is our flagship event to fuel our mission. From refreshing the Ronald McDonald House at Children’s Minneapolis to providing direct support for families in the trenches of medical crises, every swing and every putt helps us provide comfort and resources to those who need it most.
Our Commitment
We are a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) organization. With no paid staff, every dollar raised goes directly toward our mission. When you join us for a round of golf, you aren't just a participant; you are part of our "Little Heart, Big Community" movement ensuring that every little heart has the opportunity to beat stronger and longer.
Thank you for helping us keep Hayes’ name alive and for being the force behind a loving community.

Secure your spot for this year's event
Whether you're a seasoned golfer, bringing a group, or just looking for a great evening out - there's a place for you at this year's Hazy Boy Open.
All golf registrations - single, twosome, threesome, and foursome - include dinner for every player. No separate ticket needed.
This year's mulligan package is a great add-on for any player. Each mulligan includes one do-over to use during your round, a ball for the gold ball challenge kicking off the tournament, and an entry into the putt off at the turn. A little extra fun for a great cause.
Not a golfer? No problem. Dinner tickets are available separately so you can join us for dinner and the silent auction. It's a wonderful evening regardless of whether you set foot on the course.
Don't worry if you don't have your full group confirmed yet - go ahead and reserve your spots now and you can add your players' details any time before the event.
We're grateful for the incredible support of our sponsors.
